Uttar Pradesh to set up a zoo named after Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan

The Uttar Pradesh government sanctioned Rs 234 crore for construction of a zoological garden named after Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan in Gorakhpur.

The zoological garden will be spread across 121 acres in Gorakhpur.

Freedom fighter Ashfaqullah Khan was participated in Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement (NCM), Chauri Chaura incident.

Ashfaqulla Khan along with Ram Prasad Bismil found the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association.

23rd National Youth Festival 2020 begins at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and State Government of Uttar Pradesh are jointly organizing 23rd National Youth Festival (NYF) 2020 at Indira Pratishthan, Lucknow from 12th to 16th January 2020 on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The objective of NYF is to provide the Indian youth an opportunity to showcase their talents in various activities.

RBI allows Video based Customer Identification Process

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched the Video-based Customer Identification Process (V-CIP) as a consent-based alternate method of establishing the customer’s identity for purpose of Know Your Customer (KYC).

The V-CIP is a consent based alternate method of establishing the customer’s identity and for customer onboarding from remote areas while leveraging the digital technology.

V-CIP will also provide comfortability to banks and other regulated entities while holding to the RBI’s Know Your Customer (KYC) norms.

Government raises authorised capital of Indian Overseas Bank to Rs 25,000 crore

The central government of india in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)has announced an increase in the authorized capital of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) to Rs 25,000 crores from the previous authorized capital of Rs. 15,000 crores.

Yuvraj Malik appointed as director of National Book Trust

Lt Col Yuvraj Malik has been appointed as the Director of the National Book Trust on deputation from the Indian Army.

He will replace Sahitya Akademi-awardee writer Rita Chowdhury.

He has served with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Raj Bhawan in Jammu & Kashmir, United Nation Missions in Africa and several operational areas.

National Book Trust is an Indian publishing house, founded in 1957 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. National Book Trust now functions under aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development.

PayU to acquire PaySense for $185 mn

Payment and fintech company PayU have decided to acquire a digital credit startup PaySense at an equity valuation of about $185 million (mn).

After the acquisition, PayU is also decided to merge its lending business Lazypay with PaySense.

As a part of the deal, Prashanth Ranganathan, the current CEO of PaySense, will lead PayU’s credit business in India as the CEO of the new enterprise.

Rani Rampal nominated for World Games Athlete of Year 2019

India women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal has been nominated for the World Games Athlete of the Year 2019 award.

The 25 athletes nominated for this award from 25 sports have been recommended by their international federations.

Rampal has been recommended for the award for her outstanding showings and her ability to lead the team by example.

Last year, the acrobatic gymnastics couple Mariia Chernova and Georgii Pataraia (Russia) won the title.

Wings India 2020 to be held at Begumpet Airport

Wings India 2020, an international exhibition and conference on civil aviation sector, will be held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.

The event is organized by Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to provide a congenial forum to the rapidly changing dynamics of the sector.
