India to get world’s highest railway bridge by December 2021
The government has set a fresh deadline for completion of the world’s highest railway bridge, coming up over river Chenab in Reasi district of Jammu, by December 2021.
It is the most challenging project in the post-independent history of the Indian Railways.
It is located 359 metres above the river bed
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project is important in order to provide an alternative and reliable transportation system to Jammu and Kashmir.
It will connect Bakkal, Katra and Kauri, Srinagar.
Pravasi Bhartiya Divas: 9 January
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or Non-Resident Indian Day is celebrated every year on January 9.
This year the 16th edition of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas is celebrated across the country.
January 9 was chosen for the celebration of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas because on this day in 1915, Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa and led India’s freedom struggle.
This year the day was being celebrated in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh govt inks Rs 711 cr loan pact with Kfw, Germany Development bank
Andhra Pradesh government signs a loan pact for Rs.711 crore with Kfw, Germany Development bank for expanding the climate-resilient Zero-Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) in the state for the next five years.
The state government will spend another Rs 304 crore on the project under which 2.39 lakh farmers in 591 village panchayats will be encouraged to take up ZBNF.

Government authorizes Rs 5559 cr for Indradhanush gas grid project
The Union Government has authorized the amount of Rs 5559 crore for 1656 Km long Indradhanush Natural Gas Pipeline Grid project.
The total expenditure of the project is estimated as Rs 9,256 crore and the above sanctioned amount is expected to cover 60% of the project.
The amount will be used to set up Natural Gas Pipeline Grid connecting 8 North Eastern states. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.
Dr A Sakthivel takes over as new chairman of AEPC
Padma Shri Dr. A Sakthivel has taken over as the new chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council of India.
He was elected to the Board of Directors of Apparel Export Promotion Council in the year 1982 and has served the council for almost four decades.
He will replace HKL Magu.
SBI has announces ‘residential builder finance with buyer guarantee’ scheme
announces ‘residential builder finance with buyer guarantee’ scheme. The aim of the scheme is to give a push to residential sales and improve homebuyers’ confidence.
Under this scheme the SBI will issue a guarantee for completion of select residential projects to customers who have availed home loans from it.
The scheme will focus on affordable housing projects priced up to 2.50 crore rupees in 10 cities initially.

Indian-Origin author Jasbinder Bilan wins 2019 Costa Children’s Award
Indian-origin Jasbinder Bilan has been conferred the UK’s famous Costa Children’s Award 2019.
She has won the award for her debut novel ‘Asha and the Spirit Bird’. Under the award, Billon will receive a sum of £ 5000. Jasbinder’s novel “Asha and the Spirit Bird” was chosen from 144 other books.
Deutsche Bank projects India’s economy to reach $7 trillion by 2030
India’s economy is likely to grow two and half times to $7 trillion by 2030, from about $3 trillion now, making India the world’s third largest economy. Indian economy is presently valued at $3 trillion.
The estimation was stated by Deutsche Bank in its research report “Imagine 2030”.
